Why You Shouldn’t Use AI Content For Your Business Site

As someone who writes for a living, I will be the first person to stand on my soapbox and talk about my dislike and distrust for AI content creation. However, that isn’t what this article is about because I want to touch on the reality of why artificial intelligence writing isn’t just bad for writers. This is something that can also negatively impact the businesses and companies that choose AI content over human writers.

In this article, we will discuss the most significant downsides to using AI-generated content for your business, whether you are using it for your website pages or your blog.

Downsides to Trusting AI Writing For Your Company

It can be incredibly tempting to use AI-generated content for your company simply because it cuts back on costs. Even though I am a full-time writer, I completely sympathize with this reason since I often find myself wondering how I can cut back on my own expenses! However, the old saying “you get what you pay for” comes true when you rely too heavily on artificial intelligence technology.

Lacks Personalization and Humanity

Some of the more widely recognized reasons why artificial intelligence writing is not ideal is the human aspect. AI-generated writing is not personalized and can often come across as sounding very robotic, which makes sense. This isn’t how you want the writing for your business to come across as it can sound low quality and even a random person on the internet can often identify this type of writing.

AI won’t be able to replicate your brand and tone of voice the way an actual writer would be able to. Some AI generating tools allow you to add tone of voice and other style aspects but it can be difficult for this to shine through. If you want articles that have a more empathetic tone of voice, it can be very difficult to actually achieve this without a real human on the other side of the keyboard.

Increases the Risk of Inaccuracies

One of the main reasons why I will never use AI technology to write for me is the risk of inaccuracy. When I write an article, I find resources that I know are high-quality and I make sure they provide the most up-to-date information available. When you use an AI tool to generate content, you don’t have this type of control so you don’t actually know where the technology is getting its information from.

It may feel like splitting hairs, but not having control of sources can lead to significant problems, especially if you are in a more professional industry. For example, if you are a law firm using AI to write your blog posts and it creates an inaccurate article, this could significantly discredit your law firm’s ability and knowledge in your area.

Creates Ethical Concerns

Other concerns related to allowing AI to generate your content is whether or not this is ethical. AI tools are only able to use information and materials that already exist on the internet when they are creating content. This leads to concerns around tools simply spinning other people’s content and potentially infringing on copyright laws and plagiarism.

Of course, it is nearly impossible to create content that is entirely original since there is so much content online and many people are discussing the same topics. However, a human writer is able to write more creatively making it a singular piece of content that stands on its own without sounding too much like anything else on the Internet.

Could Lead to SEO Problems

It is no secret that Google used to crack down very harshly on any type of artificial intelligence writing. Even though this has changed in recent years, Google is still very strict about this type of content if it hasn’t been altered enough to sound like it was written by a human.

Google will not optimize articles that come across as inhuman, poorly written, plagiarized, or poorly structured. This can lead to the SEO on your website being damaged, which can be very difficult to repair, especially in the long run. AI generating tools also have a tendency to overuse keywords or use them incorrectly, which is also a big no-no with Google.

Whether you are trying to find the easiest solution for your business’s content needs or you have a very tight marketing budget, choosing to use AI content over a human writer is never a good idea.
